Unit 4: Mental Workout
A "mental workout" is much like a physical workout. American society is traditionally very focused on keeping our bodies in shape but we place limited emphasis on keeping our minds in shape. Just like our bodies, we need to regularly practice and exercise our minds in order to create both short and long-term change. When we start a new practice it can be quite difficult, but just like our physical bodies, maintaining our practice will become easier over time. If we maintain motivation and engage in consistent practice we progressively develop the "resources of a higher consciousness," as Dacher put it.
